-
Like we used to have: A state-owned bank to operate through Australia Post
outlets, which will bring back some real competition with the big banks, and
ensure banking services for all Victorians.
-
Recreate a State Housing Authority that will directly build public housing. Use
a newly created state bank to help build 200,000 new homes across Victoria within the decade.
-
A Pathway to own a home for young people
Rent caps and subsidies for all young/low-income Victorians. Fixed long-term
low interest loans for first home owner-occupiers. Preferential sale of new
publicly built homes to young Australian citizens.
-
Mandate all electricity once again be sold via the State Electricity Commission (SEC)
to eliminate corporate overcharging and profit gouging. An effective roll-back of
privatisation of state energy since the 1990s.
-
No sale of state-owned water companies! Introduce a Bill to outlaw the sale
of state assets—protecting all existing state assets, and prepare for resuming
state control of infrastructure at the point of private lease expiry.
-
Reduce outsourcing to private companies that shift accountability, risk and
responsibility for infrastructure away from Government. Hire and train skilled
engineers, project managers, apprentices and tradespeople, and retain them within the public service.
-
Get speculators out of water trading. Listen to farmers who manage and
preserve the land and who use the water! Conduct real environment impact
assessment of A.I Data Centres. Listen and heed the voice of communities.
