Donations
Donations to registered political parties may be tax deductible where the applicable requirements are met. Eligibility depends on the nature of the donation and the recipient, and not all donations are deductible.
When you make a donation, the Australian Citizens Party (Victorian Division) records the personal information required to process the donation and meet its legal obligations. We do not store credit card information.
Political Donation Disclosure
Under the Electoral Act 2002 (Vic), donors and recipients must generally disclose political donations of $1,290 or more to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) within 21 days. Multiple donations to the same recipient during a financial year must be disclosed when their combined value reaches the threshold. Once the threshold is reached, subsequent donations must also be disclosed, even if individually below $1,290.
Political donations may only be made by Australian citizens, Australian residents or organisations with a registered business number, such as an Australian Business Number (ABN). Foreign and certain anonymous donations are prohibited.
From 15 April to 28 November 2026, the general donation cap is $5,190 from one donor to one recipient. From 29 November 2026, the cap increases to $7,740. A registered political party, its endorsed candidates and elected members count as one recipient for the purpose of the cap. Donors are also restricted from donating to more than six third-party campaigners during the applicable period.
